F/A-18E/F Super Hornet module has its own targeting system. We try to do it more DCS stylized. We hope you will enjoy it.
You have two options on how to use your radar: Beyond-Visual-Range (BVR) option, and Air Combat Maneuvering (ACM) options.
It’s radar mode, that allows you to lock your target at long distance. In this case, we use the ATTK RDR page on MFD to lock a target.
It’s radar mode, that allows you to lock your target in close manoeuvring A/A combat when you can’t use radar on your MFD to lock the target. In this case, you need to select ACM mode and place a target into the HUD zone.
You have three ACM mode:
Point mode (Sensor Control Switch - Up) - this mode draw a small circle on HUD. Your radar will be fixed and waiting when the target will be placed inside the circle. This mode allows you to lock your target very quickly.
if you turn On HMD, the point will follow your sight;
Big Point mode (Sensor Control Switch - Right) - with this mode your radar will move by limited range. It will be easier to place the target into a circle, but radar needs some time to lock it;
Vertical Scan mode (Sensor Control Switch - Left) - with this mode, your radar will move only vertically. It is very useful for high AoA manoeuvring.
When you lock your target, you will see information about it. It’s intercept velocity (550 Vc), range (5.2 RNG), place of your target (Rhombus) and, for some missiles, launch parameters indication (Circle with arrows in the middle of the screen). To unlock your target press Undesignate button.
